Dry / Chemical Cleaning

Dry cleaning is any cleaning process for clothing, textiles and fabrics using a chemical solvent other than water.
It is used to clean fabrics that can degrade in water, and delicate fabrics that cannot withstand high temperatures or the rough and tumble of a home or industrial washing machine and clothes dryer.

Chemical cleaning is a process where garments are soaked in a solvent other than water. Tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene), which the industry calls “perc”, is the most widely used solvent. Alternative solvents are trichloroethane and petroleum spirits.
This deep cleaning method is mainly used to remove all traces of built up grime and bacteria caused by the inability to industrially clean the garments on a regular basis. In some instances this Chemical cleaning method is used once for every 5 water based washing cycles.
